Lemonade Day

Lemonade day is coming up for Team Character and it’s going to be fruity, fizzy, and FUN!!! What type of drink did you make? Is it refreshing? Flavor blasted? Energizer? Well, everyone will know on LEMONADE DAY! It’s going to be a day you will NEVER forget!

GIRLS GROUP

  Mrs. Gasson, Mrs. Whitling, and the 5th grade counselor Mrs. Krugh, have worked hard to assemble almost all Team Characters girl students to create a Girls Group. It helps girl get through life’s problems. They explain how to get through friendships, bullying, and stereotypes.

   Girls attended meetings on Wednesday and Thursday. Examples of what we learned is, girls can be strong and smart even though stereotypes say otherwise. Also, that being a girl is not an insult but a compliment. The group has taught me and all the other attendants I’m sure how to love life as a girl.

 

Historical Fiction Stories

     Watch out America, new smash hit authors are coming your way! Team character has been working extremely hard to make their new historical fiction stories the best they can be.

     All of Team Character, has been focusing especially on the Civil Rights time period. We took an exciting adventure through history learning many things from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to the marches of Selma. But, now we finally get to apply this knowledge to our writing pieces. All of Team Character must select one exciting event from all which we have learned. However, you can learn many lessons you can apply to modern day life, which makes the writing even better.

     Team Character put their best effort into these stories, and everyone is extremely proud of the young writers.

BHB Champions!

Team Character 2 has won the title of the 2015 Black History Bowl Champions! The BHB team has worked endlessly to be prepared for this competition and it definitely paid off. All of Team Character is extremely proud of the team, and excited they have finally brought home a win.

The final round was an exciting one. Excellence was a very skilled team, but we still managed to grab the lead. My blog team and I have interviewed some of the team, so you can feel the excitement the team is experiencing. I asked BHB team member Luis what his feelings were towards the competition and he answered, “I was scared at first, but now I am more confident and ready to take on any team!” I also confronted Sanjay and asked, what his thoughts were about the competition and he answered, “Excellence was a great team and we had to study hard to beat them.”

Even though the Black History Bowl has come to an end, Team Character will always remember how the 2014-2015 team made record of the first win they have ever had.

Black History Bowl Finals

    The Black History Bowl finals are coming up, and team Character is in it! We are against team Excellence 1. I interviewed some competitors on the team and they told us how they are feeling.
    One B.H.B team member, Luis, said," We are really nervous, and a little doubtful about winning." Another team member, Ben, said "I know we are nervous but we go to each other's houses [to practice] and we work really hard."  A third team member, Lincoln, said, "We can do this. We work very hard and we have fun at the same time."
      C'mon team Character! Cheer them on, tell them they can do it, show support. Because without you guys out there cheering for them, they will lose confidence. Also, if you are all ready showing support, tell your friends, spread the word! This isn't as easy as just memorizing a few words, you have to be dedicated to learn. So Team Character... CHEER THEM ON!!!

When will you chance to see that again? I mean TEACHERS of all people, playing basketball. Wasn't it awesome seeing our teachers playing basketball. And even better we won! We won, 10-17. Go green team! Yay!

Laser Tag

A Perry team member sneaks up behind a Sheets team member, thinking they're unseen. The Sheets member spins around and zaps the Perry Team member and slips away.

Lazer Kraze was a blast for those who went. Even if you didn't go, I think you might want to save up your money for this time! If the Semester 1 party was this good, imagine how good the Semester 2 party will be!  So start saving up your money!!!

Black History Bowl Update

Watch out MI!  Team Character is taking on the Black History Bowl! Our competitors on Team Character are stoked for the competition, and very excited about representing our team. This seems clear, because my blog team and I have interviewed some of the students and have found they have a lot to say.


We have asked a competitor on the B.H.B team, Pooja, how she feels about competing. She explained, “Competing is one of my favorites because of the fast pace.”  We also interviewed team member, Lincoln, and asked if he thought Team Character had a chance of winning.  He expressed, “Definitely, because we all work so well together as a team.”


The representatives of Team Character have shown that they care very much about this competition by the hard work they put in practicing. The students on the B.H.B team have sacrificed much of their lunch and recess time to practice, practice, practice. They have their heart set on winning, and I have no doubt that is what they are going to do. All of team Character is rooting for them.  LETS GO CHARACTER!!!
